Editorial standards

Here's how we put our articles together, and the promises we keep to our readers.
Trusted sources
Health information in our articles comes from published research and trusted sources: peer-reviewed studies, government health agencies like the NIH and CDC, major medical centers and established health organizations. We list our sources at the end of every article, with links.
We never make up studies, numbers or statistics.
Real talk, no made-up stories
Our "Ask the Porch" questions are the kind of questions many people ask. They're written in general terms and never attributed to a made-up reader. We don't publish invented stories or testimonials.
Health claims
- We never promise a cure.
- We never tell anyone to stop, start or change a medication. That's for you and your doctor to decide.
- We always say when it's time to see the doctor, and when something needs urgent care.
Bylines and dates
Every article carries a byline and shows the date and time it was published. If we update an article, you'll see that date too.
Updates and corrections
When the advice changes, we update the article instead of writing a new one. If you catch a mistake, write to us at contact@openporchhealth.com and tell us which article and what looks wrong. A corrected article shows the date it was updated.
Products
An article about a specific product always starts with a disclosure of our business relationship and the standard FDA statement for dietary supplements. We never claim a product treats, cures or prevents a disease.
